Swivel housing rebuild kit question

Rebuilding swivels on my brother's 1997 NAS Land Rover Defender 90. The BP kit we ordered came with FTC124 thrust washer that wasn't in the teardown. Manual shows it but no clue where it goes if using the 2 flat washers and roller bearing up top. Is FTC124 meant to replace the roller bearing in certain configurations and has anyone run into this doing a rebuild with OEM parts vs aftermarket?

Yeah, FTC124 is used instead of the roller bearing in some older or aftermarket setups, I guess your original had the bearing and two flat washers so stick with that, don't add the thrust washer. Some kits include both to cover different versions, but you don't use all of them together.

Got it, we'll leave FTC124 out and stick with the original setup. Out of curiosity, have you ever seen a BP kit that actually omits the roller bearing and only includes the thrust washer?

I've run into that before on a swivel rebuild, the FTC124 thrust washer shows in the manual but doesn't always appear in every teardown. It's usually for earlier setups without the taper roller bearing. If your swivel had the roller, you won't use FTC124. Some aftermarket kits toss in both styles to cover multiple years, which gets confusing

Your reply is almost identical to @Manfromafar, so I'm thinking BP uses both setups for different builds. Our kit came with the taper roller and 2 flat washers, so we'll stick with that and leave out FTC124. I've seen some guides mention FTC124 but they never actually show it being used, which is confusing. Have you ever encountered a BP kit that omits the roller bearing and only includes the thrust washer or is this a feature typically found in older OEM kits? We're finishing up the rebuild this weekend and want to doublecheck that we're not missing anything before putting it all back together.
